2025 Harvest Recap

A Vintage of Renewal and Quiet Strength

After a winter that tested every vine and every grower in the Okanagan, 2025 arrived as a season of renewal. At Roche Wines, the year unfolded with a mix of relief and resolve, a chance to see the vineyard breathe again, and to be reminded of the patience that true winegrowing demands.

The Season

Spring began gently, with warm soils and steady growth across our Naramata sites. Flowering was even, fruit set consistent, clear signs that the vines were ready to recover.
Summer brought classic Okanagan conditions: long, luminous days, moderated by cool nights. The season was dry and beautifully balanced, allowing slow, deliberate ripening, the kind of rhythm that defines the finest years.

Harvest began in late August, one of the earliest we’ve seen, and carried through September and October. September was especially warm and beautiful allowing grapes to reach their full potential maturity. Each pick was guided by taste, not the calendar, a return to instinct and precision.

The Fruit

Yields returned to nearly 90% of a typical year, an encouraging recovery from 2024’s losses. More important than quantity, though, was the quality: berries small and perfectly formed, with vibrant acidity and deeply expressive aromatics.

• Pinot Gris and Chardonnay showed purity and minerality, echoing the soil complexity from Naramata and Okanagan falls.
• Pinot Noir offered fine structure and tension — delicate yet resilient, much like the season itself.
• Cabernet Franc and merlot maturity were exactly where we wanted. Well lignified stems allow us to do some part whole cluster fermentation. 
• Rosé Zweigelt came in beautifully balanced, bright and fragrant, promising a wine of finesse and freshness.

The Cellar Mood

There’s a quiet joy in the cellar this year: the sound of fermentation is more musical, the aromas more generous. After several seasons of adversity, 2025 feels like a reward for patience and perseverance. This vintage will speak softly but with conviction, the way the land itself does when it’s been tested and endures.

Looking Forward
